12/12/2015  · How Functions Work: Inferior Fe (ISTP/INTP) The inferior function is the hardest to understand and describe. It embodies the part of us that we are least accepting of. Although we are often unaware of its activities, it would be inaccurate to describe the inferior function as “weak” because all of our core functions are powerful in their own way.


Inferior Fe is known for snapping out suddenly and emotionally after being pent up for a long time. The combination of Se-Fe specifically is probably even more prone to doing this. Personally, while I can snap at someone in defense of myself, I more often than not just shrug my shoulders and walk away, refusing to comply.

As an inferior function, Fe originally manifests as the user being reluctant to dabble with or express emotional concerns, as the user cannot logically make sense of many of his or her own emotions and therefore doesn’t feel confident in moderating them.

Inferior Fe sees others as treating them unfairly, excluding them, neglecting their needs and feelings, not feeling ‘good enough’ for other people. It wouldn’t usually manifest as concern for others. That’s a more developed F function.
